Welcome to the College of Sciences a diverse and growing community dedicated to discovery, to making knowledge matter, and to developing all of its students and staff to their utmost potential. We value the importance of science in the world of tomorrow, where it impact on improving living standards and resolving some of the world's most complex challenges, such as sustainable development and climate change:
Our mission is:
To provide globally competitive and high quality academic programmes in Science; to produce employable graduates through excellence in teaching and research;to undertake national and international research in priority fields including through collaborative partnerships and industry linkages; and to promote the application of science for the benefit of society.
We aspire to produce tomorrow’s generation of African scientific and technological leaders and thinkers.
A degree in Science is a first step towards an exciting career, one that stimulates, challenges, and rewards you. Science graduates have a unique blend of generic and discipline-related skills that give them the capacity to tackle problems with initiative and resourcefulness, to plan and execute projects and to work as part of a team. Studying Science gives you the innovative skills for an ever-changing workforce environment and makes you a valuable and sought-after resource for employers.
We also lay the foundations that make our students global citizens, as well as scientists, and are developing courses in social science and humanities to help produce scientists who can bridge science and its technological applications with the benefits to communities and society. Science is a very important part of human cultural development.
Please explore our website to learn more about who we are and what we do and I welcome and invite you to be part of the exciting development of the College of Sciences in a new Science and Technology University.
