COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY
The College of Engineering & Technology offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The vision of the College is to be a leading provider of engineering and technology education using innovative approaches to enhance lifelong career opportunities in Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Measurement & Instrumentation, Computer Engineering, Energy Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering.
The College’s mission is to provide globally competitive and high quality education based on theoretical, experiential, and ethical foundation and enhanced by opportunities for participation in research, industrial internships, and inter-disciplinary studies so as to produce employment-ready graduates. All programmes of the College are designed to meet ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) and ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) accreditation requirements. The College of Engineering & Technology is one of two founding Colleges of BIUST.
COLLEGE OF SCIENCES
The College of Sciences comprises of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Department of Mathematics and Computational Sciences, Department of Biology and Biotechnological Sciences, Department of Chemistry and Forensic Sciences and the Department of Social Sciences.
Original research is a prime objective of the College and a number of Centres of Excellence are being developed. Research will support cutting-edge teaching and provide all students with the opportunity to be involved with relevant applied research projects in the new purpose-designed buildings with well-equipped teaching and research laboratories and faculties. The College offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
