BIUST is committed to giving Batswana better control of their destiny through contributing to the socio-economic, cultural and political wellbeing of the nation. BIUST’s socio-economic development mandate makes it community-centred, first to the greater Palapye region, the country, the continent and the world. This is especially important because the University belongs and is totally controlled by Botswana even if it is opened to the international community of scholars.
BIUST’s community bias is also consistent with its acquisition of the 2 500 hectares of land that it occupies. The community of greater Palapye made a great sacrifice by donating the land, including graveyards, to the University.
