a. STEM Festival Information
The festival highlights and buttresses the relevance and criticality of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by celebrating STEM and STEM innovations and inventions, hence the theme;” STEM DEVELOPMENT: A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR BOTSWANA.” The intention is to demonstrate socio-economic advancement or potential espoused in the STEM which is currently employed.
These comprises exhibit of technological ideas in the form of products, or how technology is used in different sectors of the economy and everyday life. Working models, charts etc form the exhibition/ displays category.
During the STEM issues of scientific interest are discussed. Presentations are made on issues that are relevant to STEM and STEM development for economic development and related issues.
Science is all around us; as a result many, readily available materials may be used to demonstrate science concepts. Also show that Science and Mathematics can be amazing and amusing. Curiosity is aroused and a desire to learn provoked.
b. STEM Festival Organising Committee
There are several subcommittees under the main committee and these committees have the following responsibilities: Confirm activities which will be relevant and appropriate to achieve the objectives of hosting the festival, Identify and guide individuals/departments or groups well placed to execute specific preparatory assignments, market and promote the event to reach a wider audience, Monitor the festival implementation schedule and activities, Evaluate and fine-tune the festival concept as a standing BIUST phenomenon.
The sub-committees are as follows:
i. Logistics sub-committee
- Protocol and ushering
- Venue and accommodation
ii. Programmes` committee
iii. Seminars/Exhibits/Shows committee
iv. Publicity committee
v. Industry linkages committee
